The CrossThe cross symbolises not only the source of light but also celebrates the light’s life-sustaining and/or creative properties. Two sources of light are carefully recognised here, the sun and the lightning bolt. Two lightning bolts diagonally crossed, form a cross. In Mediterranean and ancient European usage we see the form of the cross symbolise the sun. In ancient eastern use we see the form of the cross to resemble diagonally crossed lightning bolts. By the 2nd century BCE we see a synthesis of the two forms – remaining almost unchanged to the present day. |

Yin & YangTwo fishes, one upstream another downstream—spawn and return. Cycle of life. Flowing water to ocean, tides of ocean, cycle of rain falling flowing to rivers, rivers flowing to ocean, cycle. As the sun sets a slither of night surfaces to blossom and then give way to the rising slither of light yet again. In the extremes of life lie the dangers yet the new dawn is never far off, and even in the midst of the extreme always is harboured the seed of the oipposite. Yesu performed many fish miracles, told many fishing parables, and was widely identified with fish symbols. Even the Christian era made use of the fish symbolism attached to Yesu but could not use the Yin & Yang concept. The foetus position. Symbol of cycle of life. Adult humans return to this position for peace and to ward off fear-- This is where human life starts, as foetus, this is where it will return to. We are incarnated on this earth in the dark, moist, cushioned, secretive, quiet, womb of the mother – and when time comes to sever ties with Her and venture into this life we are born again on this earth in the light, harsh, loud, revealing, busy world of the father. All of life follows this pattern of the womb and the world. Therefore Yesu, our older Brother, says to us come to me I will walk with you, in this harsh light I am the Way, the Light, and the Teaching, take my hand and come to the Father through me. |
